Hazardous and Chemical Haulage

Moving chemicals safely is a serious piece of work.

The training, the equipment and the insurance all have to be right, and the person behind the wheel has to have done it before.. Duncan Hill has been working in the chemical industry for decades, and the credentials, the cover and the experience all reflect that.

We can carry any class of chemicals other than Class 1 explosives and Class 7 radioactive. Every driver is ADR qualified. Emergency response cover is in place in the event of an incident. And we hold comprehensive insurance specifically tailored to the loads we carry.

HCDG approval isn’t given lightly, and it carries real responsibility for the operator. We’ve earned that approval, which means a procurement team evaluating us against a wider field knows, before any further questions, that we’ve already cleared the bar most hauliers can’t.

Underneath the approval sit the things that make it count. ADR-qualified drivers on every job. A modern fleet of dedicated chemical tankers. Tank wash facilities on site at Crosby Villa, so loads aren’t compromised between jobs. And emergency response cover, so that in the unlikely event of an incident, the right people are on the way before the phone goes down.

We work with industrial customers who can’t afford to get this wrong. They stay with us because the basics are right and the awkward questions get a straight answer.

If you’ve a chemical haulage requirement, regular or one-off, we’d welcome the conversation.

Every driver, ADR qualified

ADR is the European agreement that governs the international carriage of dangerous goods by road. The qualification covers safe loading and unloading, vehicle handling, documentation, emergency procedures and the specific rules for the classes of material being carried.

At Duncan Hill, every driver in the fleet holds it. Not a designated chemical team within a larger operation, every driver. That means when a customer’s load shifts, when an unfamiliar route comes up, or when a regular driver is on leave, the cover is straightforward.

We invest in keeping the training current, and we hire and develop drivers with this kind of work in mind. Several of our team have been carrying ADR-classified loads for us for more than two decades.
